Gunma Prefectural Ikaho Forest Park, at 1,000 meters, is an excellent wild-bird spot. Summer visitors, winter visitors, residents, and wanderers gather there — a crossing of migrants from north and south — and many birds come together.

At Ryokan Omori’s rooftop open-air bath, at 800 meters, a wild-bird feeder is set out. At this time of year all kinds of birds come looking for food.

After snow you can also see cute tracks like these. They seem to be the footprints of the small birds that are fed each day.

You can enjoy a soak while watching the birds. The rooftop baths are Roman and Honoka. A later summer note on the park is Cool air at Ikaho Forest Park.
