A caldera lake at the foot of Haruna Fuji. Just a short drive from Ikaho, Lake Haruna is one of Gunma’s most scenic destinations throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy sightseeing cruises, rowboats, and swan boats on the lake. The lakeside is especially popular in summer, and the ropeway offers panoramic views from Mount Haruna. Nearby, colonies of yusuge (daylilies) bloom in summer.

The iconic 365-step stone staircase forms the heart of Ikaho Onsen. Rebuilt over five years from 1980 and paved in granite, it is lined with souvenir shops, manju sweet shops, and small stalls that still give the street the feel of a classic onsen town.

The museum is dedicated to Takehisa Yumeji, the painter and poet associated with Taisho Romanticism and best known for his bijin-ga portraits. The museum complex includes the Black Ship House. On display are portraits, design drawings, watercolors, and sketches, and changing exhibitions present more than ten thousand related documents.

One of the area’s most popular family attractions. It’s easy to reach, and the ranch’s own soft-serve ice cream is excellent. Activities include horseback riding, a horse-drawn carriage, butter-making, archery, and putting golf. The ranch is home to goats, sheep, cattle, horses, rabbits, and sheepdogs, and a popular sheepdog show is held daily.
Famous for Mizusawa Udon · 8 minutes by car
Mizusawa-ji is a Tendai Buddhist temple with a history said to span around 1,300 years. The surrounding area is also famous for Mizusawa udon. Admission for worship is free. Temple stamps (goshuin) are available from 8:00 to 17:00; the Shaka-do is open from 9:00 to 16:00. Mizusawa udon is one of Japan’s best-known regional udon styles, with a history of more than four hundred years. The temple is said to have once served it to pilgrims.
