Ikaho Onsen is known for two types of spring water: Shirogane-no-Yu (Silver Hot Spring) and Kogane-no-Yu. Our baths use Shirogane-no-Yu (Silver Hot Spring), a clear, colorless spring known for its gentle feel. The water is traditionally enjoyed for relaxation and its smooth feel on the skin.

Rooftop Garden Open-air Bath Roman

A spacious rooftop garden bath at 800 meters

Roman is a spacious garden-style rooftop open-air bath. Take your time soaking while enjoying the fresh mountain air and sweeping views across the mountains surrounding Ikaho. From here you can see Mount Akagi, the Hotaka range, Mount Komochi, Mount Onoko, and the Tanigawa range. By day, enjoy panoramic mountain views. After sunset, relax beneath a sky filled with stars.

The baths alternate between men and women.

Rooftop Open-air Bath Honoka

A hinoki rooftop bath with a view from 800 meters

Built from fragrant Japanese cypress, Honoka offers a quieter atmosphere while overlooking the same magnificent mountain scenery. From here you can see Mount Akagi, the Hotaka range, Mount Komochi, Mount Onoko, and the Tanigawa range.

The baths alternate between men and women.

Private Open-air Bath “Nagomi”

A private ceramic bath on the top floor

The private open-air bath on the top floor reopened on 8 December 2018. The original hinoki bath has been replaced by a beautifully crafted ceramic bath, offering a more spacious and comfortable bathing experience. From the bath, enjoy views of the mountains, open sky, and the town of Ikaho below. The bath area is also wheelchair accessible. Ideal for couples, families, and guests who prefer to enjoy the onsen in complete privacy.

Price

¥1,650. The local sake is either Akagisan or Tanigawadake — sake named for the mountains you can see from the bath. Each bottle contains approximately 270 ml.

  1. Men’s and women’s open-air baths: 15:00–19:00
  2. Private open-air bath: 15:00 until the last time slot at 23:00

How to order — men’s and women’s open-air baths

  1. Call the front desk from your room.
  2. We will call your room when the set is ready.
  3. Please pick it up at the front desk.
  4. After bathing, please return the set to the front desk.

How to order — private bath

  1. Reserve by phone before you bathe.
  2. A staff member will bring the set to the bath at your reserved time.
  3. Return it to the front desk after bathing.

Notes

  • We cannot deliver an order placed from inside the bath.
  • Please enjoy the sake responsibly and only while relaxing in the designated bath area.
  • In the shared open-air baths, please enjoy the set before dinner, and do not combine it with drinks served at the evening meal.
  • If the set is not returned, a ¥3,000 replacement fee may be charged.

Large Public Bath Rakurakuyu

Spacious Indoor Onsen Baths

A wide indoor bath where you can relax at an unhurried pace. The men’s and women’s bath areas switch each morning, allowing overnight guests to experience both baths — Rakurakuyu I and Rakurakuyu II. The baths use hot-spring water together with a circulation system designed to maintain comfort and water quality.

Day-use Bathing

When day-use bathing is open, visitors are welcome to enjoy the baths without staying overnight. The rooftop open-air baths offer beautiful views throughout the seasons, from fresh spring greenery to colorful autumn leaves and peaceful winter snow. Parking is not available for day-use guests. Please use the paid municipal car park beside Ikaho Ropeway.

Hours, fees, and closed days for the current period are in the notice. The hours and fees below are our usual day-use terms when the service is open; they may differ during a limited operating period.

Can guests with tattoos use the baths?

Guests with tattoos are not permitted to use the large public baths. Please use our private open-air bath, Nagomi, and let us know when making your reservation.

Do the rooftop baths alternate between men and women?

Yes. Roman and Honoka alternate. From 15:00 to 01:00 (next day) Roman is for men and Honoka for women; from 05:00 to 10:00 the assignment is reversed. See Roman and Honoka.

Can I reserve a private open-air bath?

Yes. Overnight guests and day visitors can reserve Nagomi online or by phone at +81 279-72-2611, 10:00–17:00. See Nagomi.

Does Nagomi have a washing area?

No. Nagomi is designed for soaking and enjoying the view and does not have a separate washing area. Shampoo and body soap may not be used. See Nagomi.

What type of hot-spring water does Ryokan Omori use?

Ryokan Omori uses Shirogane-no-Yu (Silver Hot Spring), a clear, colorless simple hot spring that contains metasilicic acid. Ikaho Onsen also has Kogane-no-Yu.
