Four power spots near Ikaho Onsen
August is nearly two weeks gone, but guests still come to Ikaho looking for cooler air. This summer, stay in Ikaho and visit the power spots nearby. Here are four close to Ikaho Onsen.
Ikaho Shrine
At the top of the Stone Steps, the symbol of Ikaho Onsen. It is said to be one of Gunma’s leading power spots, known for prayers for children, safe birth, and matchmaking.
Mizusawa Kannon
A Tendai temple that enshrines the Eleven-headed Thousand-armed Kannon, said to aid safe birth and child-rearing. It is also associated with health, traffic safety, and matchmaking. See Mizusawa-ji.
Haruna Shrine
Founded about 1,400 years ago. Behind the main hall, among the trees, the great rock Misugata-iwa is striking. It is very popular as a power spot. Lake Haruna is nearby.
Akagi Shrine
The area is rich in nature: Lake Onuma, Lake Konuma, and Kakumanbuchi — called “Little Oze” — a highland-plant treasure. Hiking and fishing are well known. It has long been said to grant women’s wishes, and that a visit brings a beautiful child.
