Yama-tsutsuji at Nagamine Park have reached peak
We reported the bloom at Nagamine Park on 9 May. Yesterday the Ikaho Onsen Ryokan Association said the yama-tsutsuji (mountain azaleas) have reached peak, so we are sharing the bloom status again.
Nagamine Park, on the way from Ikaho to Lake Haruna, looks out over Ikaho Onsen as a whole. It is a colony of yama-tsutsuji.
The yama-tsutsuji at Nagamine Park have dyed the whole area red and reached peak.
In the new greenery, the azalea carpet glows red.
(The photos were taken on 11 May.)
Nagamine Park is 7–8 minutes by car from the Ikaho Onsen streets. The distant mountains are especially fine.
Worth a visit. When Nagamine is later past peak, the yama-tsutsuji around Lake Haruna come into their own.
