Yusuge around Lake Haruna
Each year around this time, yusuge (daylilies) around Lake Haruna are said to begin blooming. The heat has continued — have they opened safely this year?
The flowers begin to open in the evening and stay open until the next morning.
Other features of the yusuge:
- The six petals are about 10 cm long, with tips that curve back slightly.
- At the centre there are six stamens and one pistil.
- The stem branches at the tip and opens about ten flowers in succession.
Lake Haruna is about 25 minutes by car from Ikaho Onsen. Why not go and see the yusuge around the lake?
