Yukinoshita at Mizusawa Kannon
Yesterday we went toward Mizusawa, and stopped at Mizusawa Kannon on the way back to pay our respects. A pottery market was on in the parking area, and it was busy.
Each year around this time, Yukinoshita (saxifrage) at Mizusawa Kannon comes into its best. Many visitors see the main hall and the Rokkakudo (hexagonal hall), but they often miss the Yukinoshita in full bloom behind the main hall.
The stone wall behind the hall is in the shade, so you should still see plenty through early July. Please look for it when you visit Mizusawa Kannon.
The temple is about eight minutes by car; see Mizusawa-ji. It is also one of the four power spots near Ikaho.
