Kawazu-zakura in Shirai are nearly in full bloom
We posted on 7 March about the Kawazu-zakura in Shirai, Shibukawa, and went back to see how the bloom had progressed.
The bloom status is nine-tenths — almost full bloom.
About 70 Kawazu-zakura come into view on the slope that links the back of Michi-no-eki Komochi, on National Route 17, with Beisia Komochi.
- Location: near Michi-no-eki Komochi, Shirai, Shibukawa
- Access: about 15 minutes from Shibukawa-Ikaho IC on the Kan-etsu Expressway
- Parking: use the Michi-no-eki Komochi lot
- Admission: free
The rest stop sits just off National Route 17. After shopping there, the grove is just nearby.
A later visit found the trees in full bloom. Later Somei-yoshino notes start with Cherry-blossom spots near Ikaho (1).
