Rōbai at Rōbai-no-Sato Komochi are at their peak
On 18 January we noted that they were at about three-tenths bloom. The rōbai (wintersweet) at Rōbai-no-Sato Komochi, in the Komochi district of Shibukawa, has now reached its peak.
Rōbai-no-Sato Komochi is a hillside of about 3,000 tsubo owned by Sōrin-ji, a temple in the Komochi district of Shibukawa known as a temple of the seven wonders. Rōbai is planted over the whole face of the hill.
They usually begin to open in mid-January, and the peak lasts through mid-February.
Bloom updates are on the Shibukawa City page.
Rōbai-no-Sato Komochi is about 30 minutes by car from Ikaho Onsen — an easy stop to or from the inn. Later bloom notes in the Komochi area include Kawazu-zakura in Shirai.
